Adding a New School Fee Code in Synergy
School Fee Codes are used in Synergy to assign charges (such as student body fees, activity fees, or other district-defined fees). Follow these steps to create a new fee code:
Step 1 – Search for School Fee Codes
- In the Quick Launch box at the top of the Synergy screen, type School Fee Codes.
- Select it from the results. This will take you to the School Fee Codes page.
Step 2 – Add a New Code
- Scroll down until you see the School Defined Fee Codes section.
- Click the +Add button. A new entry screen will appear.
Step 3 – Fill Out Required Fields
On the Add Fee Code screen, complete the following fields:
- Code: Enter a short, unique shorthand code (e.g., SBF23 for Student Body Fee 2023).
- Category: Select from the list of preset categories.
If you don’t see the category you need, contact IT or Finance so it can be added.
- Description: Enter a clear description of the fee (e.g., 22-23 Student Body Fee).
Tip: Keep the description consistent across years and sites. This helps ensure accurate reporting and auditing.
Step 4 – Save the Code
- When finished, click Save.
- You’ll be returned to the list of School Defined Fee Codes, and your new code will now appear.
Troubleshooting
- If the new code does not appear when assigning it to a student, try logging out of Synergy and logging back in.
- If the issue persists, confirm you saved the code properly and selected a valid category.
Next Steps: Your new fee code is ready to use. Assign it to students as needed in their records.
