Fixing OneDrive Sync Error Indicators

Some users may see a yellow warning or sync error icon on their OneDrive files and folders after our recent server migration. This issue does not prevent uploading or syncing new files, but it can be distracting. The fix is simple and only requires a restart.

Step 1 – Close OneDrive

  1. Click the OneDrive cloud icon in your taskbar (bottom-right corner).
  2. In the pop-up, click the Gear icon in the top-right.
  3. Select Quit OneDrive. Confirm when prompted by clicking Close OneDrive.

Tip: If you don’t see the OneDrive icon, click the small up arrow on the taskbar to expand hidden icons.

Step 2 – Delete the Conflicting Folder

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. In the left-hand sidebar, click Reedsport School District.
  3. Locate Reedsport Schools – District Files, right-click it, and select Delete.

Warning: You are only deleting the local copy of the sync folder. Your files remain safely stored in the cloud and will re-download after syncing.

Step 3 – Restart and Resync

  • Restart your computer. OneDrive will relaunch automatically when Windows starts.
  • OneDrive will begin to re-synchronize all files from the cloud.
  • This process can take several hours depending on the size of your files (up to 8 hours in some cases).
Info: While syncing, you may notice placeholder icons or partially available files. This is normal. You can continue working, and files will become fully available as they finish downloading.
